A true Atlanta transplant, Michael is originally from Pittsburgh, PA but has called Georgia home since 1996. Michael chose to pursue a traditional liberal arts education at Georgia College, studying political science and rhetoric. After, joining the Lambda Xi Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, working nearly full time as a sauté cook and earning a degree in political science and rhetoric, Michael graduated from Georgia College in 2010.

Michael studied law at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School beginning in 2010. An elected member of the Student Bar Association and mock trial team, Michael was always a passionate advocate and leader among his peers. Graduating from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2013, he began his trial practice in domestic law, working for local attorneys Leanne Cooper and Tamika Fluker. He continued practicing as a trial lawyer focusing on personal injury cases, joining the Law Firm of Kevin A. Leipow in 2014.

In 2016, he joined the Flint Circuit Public Defender’s Office where he found his calling representing the rights of the accused. As a public defender, he worked tirelessly on behalf of his indigent clients. He then joined the Office of the Public Defender – Atlanta Circuit in 2018, where he represented indigent clients in the busiest judicial circuit in Georgia.

Michael has served as a Regional Vice President and is currently on the education committee of of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. A graduate of the Bill Daniels Trial Advocacy Program, and a former instructor for new public defenders, Michael is continuously involved with planning CLE events throughout the state. He has served as the treasurer of the Henry County Bar Association and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as a member of the Atlanta Lawyers Club.

In his spare time, he is a Contributing Member to the HIGH Museum of Art, member of the BRAVO Young Professionals association for the Atlanta Symphony, Contributing Member of the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park Conservancy. He enjoys playing golf (poorly), bicycling, maintaining his yard and splitting time between the Liverpool Football Club and the Georgia Bulldogs. He lives in Atlanta with his fiancée, Marybeth and their cat, Thorin von Kittyberg.
